My Five Favorite Things in March
It’s officially March, which means it’s unofficially Spring time. But it still means that I get to start daydreaming about longer days, summer vacations, picnics, outdoor dates and my summer dresses in the back of my closet.
Here are some of my favorite things that I am looking forward to on an everyday basis:
My morning matcha— I absolutely love matcha and have found that it really is best made at home. You can pick the best matcha powder, because they really are not created equally. You can pick how sweet or strong or milky or iced and it really makes a difference. A couple of weeks ago I was going on a trip and got myself a matcha from the airport coffee shop, to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I mean $8 for a matcha that was so incredibly sweet that it tasted like a candy bar? I’m sorry but when are we going to stop over sweetening drinks?? Anyway, my point being I look forward to my matcha mornings at home, preferably drank with my kitty purring on my lap.
Hot yoga at my local studios— I’m not a fan of going to a burning hot yoga class and feeling absolutely depleted afterwards, but I do enjoy going to a warm power or ashtanga class. I’m able to focus on my breath and my body and I leave feeling refreshed and happy. I go to yoga classes year-round, but spring time is when I start to feel that early morning energy comes back into my body. Basically we are all slowly waking up out of hibernation.
Early morning walks— Winter time is just so dark and gray and I try to soak up every bit of sunshine that I can get. This means that if the light starts to appear in the sky and the birds start to sing their morning songs, I also want to be out and about wandering in the first sun rays of the day. There’s just something so peaceful and magical about those first silent moments of the day when the sun is shining through the trees and the birds are happy. It just makes me happy you know?
Dinners al fresco— If you couldn’t tell already, I love being outside and eating outside is no exception. Even in the winter, I will put on my coat and turn up the outdoor heater in order to enjoy my meal, that gets cold really quickly though, let’s be real. But in the spring time, the days start getting longer and a little bit warmer and food doesn’t get cold outside so quickly.
Hikes in nearby trails— I absolutely love spending an entire Saturday just out walking next to rushing rivers and having packed snacks and sandwiches outside in the sunshine under some trees. With the days getting longer, it’s easier to go out without worrying about making it back before dark. And with the lovely spring flowers and fresh green leaves blooming everywhere it’s just too pretty to resist.
Happy March and it’s almost actually Spring! 🌷
