Simple tips to get started on your goals today
It’s the time of year where we start to turn inwards and things might get a bit hectic that we forget where our goals were supposed to take us this year. Perhaps you’ve already achieved whatever career or personal goals you had set for yourself or the year simply got away from you. Whatever the case may be, there is still two months left in this year! So don’t put your hopes and dreams and goals on hold until January 1 and start now and you’ll be ahead of most people come January.
Here are some simple tips to get you thinking about your goals and actually take some action steps today:
Write down exactly what your goal(s) are. It doesn’t matter how little or how big, write them all out and try to make them as detailed as possible.
Give yourself a time frame for achieving these goals. Or if you have to, break them up into smaller goals. For example if you’re goal is to get a promotion at work, maybe you can break it up into small tasks that you can achieve or learn a new skill at work to stand out and give yourself a certain time frame, say 3 weeks to accomplish this. If you give yourself “due dates” you’ll be more likely to follow through then if you leave it open ended.
Put the note or list with all of this information on it somewhere that you will look at and be reminded by everyday either by your desk or taped to your fridge or mirror. And bonus points for telling trusted people about it for accountability.
Celebrate the small wins and keep going!
